About the coffee:

Ireme isn’t just a coffee—it’s a story. Created by Celestin and Marie Rumenerangabo and 236 other dedicated farming households, this experimental lot was inspired by their deep emotional connection to the coffee community. The name Ireme, meaning “authentic” in Kinyarwanda, reflects their mission to bridge the gap between producer and consumer—to create a cup that’s as honest and expressive as the people behind it.

After the cherries arrive at the Muhororo washing station, they’re floated and sorted to select only the densest, highest-quality beans. From there, the beans undergo a 72-hour anaerobic fermentation in sealed tanks to unlock their full flavor potential. Once complete, the coffee is dried on raised African beds for 25 to 30 days. Meanwhile, other lots at the station follow a more traditional washed process, with shorter fermentation times and quicker drying phases. But "Ireme" is something different—crafted with intention, and processed with the consumer in mind just as much as the land it came from.
