This coffee begins with a washed Ethiopian lot known for its delicate floral aromatics and natural sweetness. The roast profile is intentionally kept light to preserve the essential characteristics of the coffee itself while allowing room for subtle experimental influence.
Experiment
This batch explores botanical infusion through distillation and controlled aroma transfer.
Rose petals were first distilled to capture their most delicate aromatic compounds. The resulting rose distillate was then introduced to green coffee beans inside a sealed pressure vessel, where carefully controlled pressure and infusion time allowed the aromatics to integrate into the coffee.
This approach offers greater precision and consistency while preserving the purity of the rose character.
Result
Compared to earlier trials, the rose expression is more noticeable, cleaner, and more defined, contributing:
• a distinct yet elegant rose aroma
• a brighter floral character
• enhanced sweetness and aromatic clarity
The goal is not to create a flavored coffee, but to explore how botanical aromatics can complement and elevate the coffee's natural qualities. The rose remains integrated with the cup, adding another layer of complexity while allowing the Ethiopian coffee to remain at the center of the experience.
