What does “Sugarcane” decaf mean?
EA stands for ethyl acetate, a compound used to extract caffeine from green coffee before roasting. In the sugarcane process, the EA is derived from sugarcane. The beans are treated with water and EA, then steamed and dried before roasting.
“Sugarcane” describes the decaffeination process, not an added sweetener. Decaffeinated coffee still contains some caffeine.
