About the coffee:

This coffee comes from smallholder farms around Wahana Estate in Sidikalang, Northern Indonesia. Wahana Estate developed a program to distribute Typica and Bourbon seeds, buying back the cherries from mature plants and processing them on-site. The cherries are picked daily, washed, pulped, fermented, and dried through a “wet hulled” process to achieve the final moisture content. The coffee is then sorted by hand and machine before export. Covering 500 hectares, Wahana Estate is one of Indonesia’s largest private coffee estates. It supports local farmers with seeds, training, and education, while also providing workers with housing, healthcare, and education. The estate is Rainforest Alliance Certified and practices sustainable agriculture by maintaining a shade canopy, protecting wildlife, and using organic fertilizers. The high-altitude location, up to 1500 meters, contributes to the exceptional quality of the coffee.
