About the concentrate:
Crafting our pasteurized barrel-aged cold brew concentrate liquid espresso has been a journey of relentless experimentation, refined over nearly five years. At Regent Coffee, we’ve continuously evolved, serving barrel-aged coffee in our shop, selling beans both in-store and online, and perfecting our bottled cold brew offering. It’s been a progressive process filled with adjustments, trials, and refinements—an ongoing journey of discovery and improvement.
The process begins with sourcing brand-new American oak barrels, carefully chosen for their ability to impart rich, nuanced flavors into the coffee.
The first step is to season the barrel with a whiskey of my choice, selected for its floral-forward notes that complement the coffee’s profile. Once the barrels are seasoned and dried, they are ready to receive the green coffee beans. Inside the barrels, the beans undergo a slow transformation, absorbing the subtle complexities of the whiskey and oak.
Throughout this aging process, I closely monitor the barrels and beans, relying on my senses to determine the perfect moment when the coffee achieves a harmonious balance of oak, whiskey, and its own natural flavors. This hands-on, sensory-driven approach ensures that every batch of barrel-aged coffee is a unique, exceptional creation.
This meticulous process forms the foundation of our cold brew concentrate, delivering a brew with a rich depth and complexity. The result is more than coffee—it’s a story of craftsmanship, patience, and dedication, captured in every sip.
